Summer Trips

Summer Horseback Adventures

Summer pack trips bring us back to the roots of Western American travel. Our Guides, Camp Jacks, and Cooks come along to take care of the packing, saddling, and cooking while you sit back and enjoy the ride. Wilderness horseback trips are a great way to get outside and enjoy some country you may have never seen otherwise. On your trip you can expect to ride on the Idaho/Montana state line, see various alpine lakes, enjoy mountain top views, and camp down near a pristine blue ribbon trout stream.

What to Expect?

Our Summer trips are flexible and your itinerary is custom made for you and your party. Most trips are either 5 or 7 days long, giving you plenty of time to see and enjoy the area. We pick you and your group up in Missoula Montana and drive up to the trailhead where our stock is waiting. We then meticulously pair you up with the best fitting horse or mule, pack your gear, and head down the trail to base camp. On the way to base camp we stop by a high mountain lake to enjoy a packed lunch where you're welcome to take a quick dip or cast a line for rising trout. Later that evening we arrive at our base camp where you unpack and unwind in your own personal wall tent before enjoying a nice home cooked meal.

After we settle in at base camp, we choose the adventure that's right for you. We have several other high alpine lakes we can visit with multiple trails to the tops of mountains which provide breathtaking views. We recommend waking up early to ride out of camp to get the best chance to see elk, moose, bear and even mountain goats. However, if you are saddle sore, you can always hang out and enjoy a quiet relaxing day of camp life.
